Therapeutic movement/dance seeks to use movement and dance to improve the mental, emotional and physical well-being.

There are no specific steps to follow, and you don’t need to be a “dancer” to benefit. Intuitive movement and expressive movement become tools to connect with your inner wisdom.

The focus on the movement & dance is specifically focuses on physical expression; body language, non-verbal behaviours, and emotional expressions instead of words, acting as a bridge between the body and mind.

We use creativity, body movement, and dance to support us in the exploration and integration of emotional, cognitive, physical, social and spiritual aspects of ourselves.

Through movement exploration we get to deepen our understanding of our life experiences, emotions and body.

Individual Sessions

1-1 Therapeutic Movement/Dance Sessions: Your Personal Journey of Self-Expression and Healing

Are you curious about what a 1-1 session entails? Here is a short overview.

1. Verbal Check-in: We start with a supportive verbal check-in to help you become aware of your psychophysical state. This allows us to understand your emotions and needs, creating a safe and nurturing space for your journey.

2. Grounding & Body Awareness: We spend some time supporting you in finding security and safety in your connection to the earth and your body before moving further into the session. We also spend some time exploring what is present in your body sensations and how they want to inform your session.

3.”Warm-up” Exploration: Next, we embark on a warm-up journey where we explore the possibilities of movement and prepare your body to express itself. Through various warm-up exercises, we’ll connect you to your breath, body, and the space around you, setting the stage for your unique movement experience.

4. Movement Resources: Liz shares some movement resources, gestures, postures, breath or movements, that can be utilized therapeutically to support the participants well-being and healing process. These resources can be both physical and psychological in nature, and they are often identified and explored during therapy sessions to promote self-awareness, emotional expression, and personal growth.

5. Creative Self-Exploration & Expression: Here, we focus on creatively connecting with your interior landscape. Through movement and gesture, you’ll have the freedom to feel, express, and tell your story. As we delve into this psychotherapeutic process, you may be encouraged to make gestures, explore different body movements, or create dance sequences that symbolize your inner experiences. This exploration can be especially helpful in working with difficult emotions and fostering emotional release.

6. Integration and Reflection: After the dynamic exploration, we take a few moments for writing and drawing to reflect on your experience. This expressive process will allow you to gain deeper insights and connect with your inner self. You’ll have the opportunity to share your reflections verbally with the therapist, fostering a deeper understanding of your journey.

7. Closing and Next Steps: As we conclude the session, we’ll discuss next steps and take-home practices tailored to your needs. This ensures that the insights and breakthroughs from the session continue to resonate in your daily life.

A 1-1 session typically lasts between 60min-90 minutes via zoom. Rest assured, no dance experience is required to embrace this transformative journey of self-expression and healing.
