Rooted in the body is a grounding practice, mixing somatic movement, embodied mindfulness and dance movement therapy.
In this 4-week series , we will explore the foundations of our temple; our connection to the body as it connects to the earth, through our feet, base of spine (coccyx) and legs as a way to reconnect with our sense of personal identity, security and stability. Anchoring into both ground and body.
From this series you will take away a sense of:
- Feeling more grounded and comfortable in your body and the world around you
- Be more secure in yourself and feel a calm and steady energy throughout your body
- Feeling empowered with a stronger sense of self and focus better on your relationships and personal goals
Flow of our time together:
Each week there will be a short introduction to the practice, followed by a somatic exploration into specific body parts as we explore the themes of “grounding, rooting and anchoring”.
Following the somatic exploration, we will take what wisdom has arisen from the body into intuitive movement and dance movement therapy accompanied by a playlist of world music.
Expressive drawing/colouring and journaling, will support the integration of your movement process.
Weaved throughout our time together there will be opportunities to share in the larger women’s circle and in pairs.
Optional homework will be given at the end of the class to continue practicing and integrating the new skill learned that week.
Monday nights Live via Zoom & In person in Toronto 7-9pm EST.

“Learning and relearning to listen and respond to my body has been the gift that Liz has given me. Especially as I navigate a chronic condition that I don’t have control over – the practices learned over the this series has given me joy, self agency and the ability to once again befriend my body. Liz’s guidance is superb.”
