My Wise Body – Women’s Support Circle

4 months of Dance Movement Therapy & Mindfulness

No dance, or meditation experience required

What to expect

90 mins support circle where we come together to share and use dance movement therapy and mindfulness to explore topics related to:

deepening self-love

body image and identity

accessing emotional awareness

embodied listening

self-compassion

Who is this for:

This online circle is for women & female identified folks struggling with self-love & feeling at home in their body

This circle is for you if you have been looking for a body centered, therapeutic and holistic approach to healing and deepening a peaceful and joyful connection to your body.

This circle is particularly suited to women struggling with challenges around self-love, body image, and body acceptance related to (but not limited to) lack of body positivity, body changes, illness and pain.

Although the practices and tools we use in this circle are therapeutic in nature, please note that these circles are not group therapy and are not intended to replace working with a therapist. This circle is also not suited for those currently in crisis.

Format of sessions and weekly topics

Each session will follow a similar format; Opening circle, brief check-in, introduction of sessions topic and psychoeducation, experiential, activity, integration activity, sharing as a group (optional you don’t have to share if you don’t want to, you will still receive the benefits of the experience) closing circle, explanation of take home practice until next session.

Session 1 Opening Circle, Coming Home to the Body through Mindful Awareness & Embodied Listening

Session 2 Identify Your Body Story and Themes Connected to your Body Identity

Session 3 The Body a Storehouse for your Emotions, Emotional regulation and Moving with your Emotions

Session 4 The Art of Self Compassion, Navigating the Critical Voice

Session 5 Re-creating and re-experiencing your Body Story

Session 6 Closing Circle, Integration, Reflection and Moving forward with Self-Love

What you will receive :

  • Six 90min guided sessions where you get to practice how to use mindfulness, movement and embodiment skills to create a more peaceful relationship with your body
  • A small intimate group setting with a maximum of 8 participants
  • A safe and nurturing space for you to honour and express
  • Take home resources that you can use at anytime even after the group finishes
  • Deeper appreciation, joy and connection to your body
  • Enhanced self-compassion, intuitive listening and embodied awareness skills
  • Community bonds with other like-minded women

Why we dance

Dance is one of the oldest forms of healing arts.  Dance guides us to embrace ourselves with compassionate acceptance, by trusting the innate healing power of the body.  Our dance practice is a like a moving meditation, where we get to explore our movements from the inside out. There is no wrong way of dancing as this is a dance practice for personal healing and growth.

Supplies you will need

Steady internet connection

A private space to move in, doesn’t have to be big but it needs to be just for you.

A journal and pen

Markers, pastels or crayons a mix of colours at least 5 different colours

White or brown large paper (height of your body) you will need 4 pieces

Masking tape

A yoga mat and cushion if you have them, if not a towel and pillow will do just fine

Investment

$210 for 4 months of support

To secure your place a $70 non-refundable deposit is required, with remaining amount due by April 23rd, OR payment in full of $210.

Space is limited to 8 participants.

Please be mindful that you are signing up for all 6 sessions dates, the sessions will not be recorded to maintain the privacy of the space.
